Requirements for ear-impressions

In order for us to build your Custom In-Ear Monitors, we need your ear impressions. On this page, you’ll find additional information for you and the hearing care professional who will take the impressions. Please read the instructions carefully and share them with the hearing care professional to ensure that the impressions are taken with sufficient quality.

1. Impression material

  • Please use only impression material that has a pressure-building consistency.
  • For production-related reasons, we cannot use materials that do not build up pressure.

The following impression materials can be used (selection):

  • Dreve Otoform® Ak
  • Dreve Otoform® Ak X
  • Dreve Otoform® Xpand
  • Dreve Otoform® Kc
  • egger A/II S 50
  • egger A/II vario
  • Hörluchs HL Soft
  • Hörluchs HL Safe
  • bachmaier oto-Soft®

2. Instructions for taking impressions for the Hearing Care Professional

  • The second bend in the ear canal must be fully captured. If the impression is not deep enough, we cannot use it.
  • The Concha and Cymba must be depicted in their entirety, without any wrinkles or bubbles.
  • Please gently smooth out the impression material from the outside using a sheet of plastic.
  • Please do not use a biting block.

3. Instructions for the customer during the impression taking process

  • Keep your mouth loosely closed, but do not clench your teeth.
  • In general, keep your face and jaw relaxed.
  • Don't keep your head down.
  • Don't chew or make faces. Don't tell jokes while the impression is being taken :)

4. How to submit Impressions or Scans

Please send us your physical impressions, securely and shock-proof packaged, to the address below. Be sure to include a note with the order number or VE number in the package so that we can clearly identify the impressions.

Delivery address
VISION EARS GmbH

If your hearing care professional offers 3D scans of your ear impressions, we can work with those as well. You can simply email them to us as an STL file at info@vision-ears.de.

Please note: The 3D scans must be taken from the physical, unprocessed impression. We cannot work with direct digital 3D scans of the ear.
